Azaghal – Mustamaa (1999) review

Artist: Azaghal
Genre: Black Metal
Country: Finland
Label: Melancholy Promotion
Type: Full-length album
Format: 12″ vinyl (33⅓ RPM)
Release date: 1999

I don’t know how to talk about this album, not shoving my full opinion about it from the first few phrases. This album was released as a limited edition (300 copies vinyl) of the debut album. It contained mostly re-recorded demo materials. And this record is fucking great!

This is old-school black metal with an amazing simple atmosphere, that is so rare our days. It makes a very similar feeling as “Transilvanian Hunter” of Darkthrone. It’s 100% kick-ass black metal in the best traditions of the genre. It’s simple and genius. I can tell that it’s even a genius in its simplicity.

I suggest it to all black metal fans as must-hear.

P.S.: Listening to this masterpiece again and again I really want to find a vinyl copy of it.
